'Pay-as-you-go' broadband services released

A new bespoke broadband platform has been launched by IT services provider Eclipse Internet.

Users of the service will pay only for what they use and have access to web browsing, email, peer-to-peer, file transfer protocol, virtual private networking (VPN) and gaming facilities, according to the firm.

Mark Thomas, head of sales and marketing at Eclipse, said that development of the technology has taken into account customer feedback and general online services.

"Broadband users will be able to customise their service to suit their usage – so home workers can optimise their broadband to achieve the best possible connection to their company VPN," he added.

Mr Thomas went on to say that allowing users to pay only for what they use will enable the company to provide faster broadband services.

Last week, the Internet Telephony Services Providers' Association stated that Voice-over Internet Protocol services are particularly useful for small businesses, enabling them to stay in touch with employees and customers when they are out of the office.
